When you bring your vehicle to Downtown Toyota, you’re putting it in the hands of a team trained to know your Toyota inside and out. Our technicians don’t just work on cars, they undergo specialised training and use purpose-built tools designed exclusively for Toyota vehicles.

Toyota-Specific Training from Day One

All of our technicians start their careers through the Toyota TNT apprenticeship programme. This is a brand-specific training pathway led by specialist trainers and supported by the Toyota Training Resource Centre. The programme spans four years, with technicians assessed halfway through as service technicians before achieving Pro Technician certification at the end.

From there, we enrol them in diagnostic technician training, giving them the skills to identify and resolve complex issues. They can then specialise further in areas such as electrical, diesel, petrol, or mechanical work, depending on their career goals.

Knowledge You Won’t Find in Generic Training

Our approach to training is very different from what you’ll typically find at an independent workshop. As Adam explains, “Our technicians are trained directly by Toyota on Toyota vehicles and systems. The training is centred around the brand. In contrast, external training is more generic.” This focus ensures our team understands exactly how your Toyota is designed to operate, and why each repair method matters.

Purpose-Built Diagnostic Equipment

We use diagnostic tools created specifically for Toyota vehicles, allowing us to connect directly with Toyota’s technical field office for support. This manufacturer-specific functionality means we can quickly and accurately diagnose issues, often with access to information and updates that aren’t available in the aftermarket world.

Staying Up to Date with the Latest Technology

Our technicians follow a strict, personalised training schedule every year. Toyota sends us regular updates and new service procedures for different models, which are delivered to our Technical Advisor. Acting as the bridge between the workshop and the customer, our Technical Advisor runs internal training sessions to ensure every technician is up to date with the latest repair methods and technology.
