At the heart of this upgrade is a brand-new workshop facility that significantly boosts our servicing capacity. The number of service bays is jumping from 11 to 18, and we’ve increased the number of vehicle hoists from 10 to 16. As Adam puts it, "We’re changing our capacity from 11 service bays to 18, and the hoists from 10 to 16 – a substantial upgrade compared to the previous shop."

We’re also kitted out with all-new equipment, including the latest tools and diagnostic technology. "We're upgrading with all-new hoists, all-new fit-out throughout the workshop, the latest state-of-the-art tools and equipment," Adam added. The new facility has been built from the ground up with efficiency, precision, and future-ready servicing in mind.

The upgrade comes as a direct response to growing customer demand. With more Toyota owners choosing Downtown Toyota for their servicing needs, it became clear that the previous facility could no longer keep up. "Our customers demanded it and we needed it," Adam said. "We were outgrowing our facility, and people were having to wait – possibly, in their opinion, too long – to get their vehicles in." The new service department was designed to reduce wait times, improve workflow, and provide a more welcoming and modern environment for both customers and staff.

Designed With Customers in Mind

Our updated facilities go well beyond the workshop floor. Here’s what’s new for you:

• Larger undercover drop-off zones to keep you and your vehicle sheltered from the weather.
• A brand-new car wash offered during your service appointment.
• A modern waiting lounge with a café-style atmosphere, complete with charging tables, Wi-Fi, and even a kids’ play area.
• Integrated departments for sales, service, and used cars – no more running between buildings

"You can’t compare the waiting area before and after. The old one was straight out of the 80s, and we’re coming into the future," Adam said. "It’s a nice, clean facility with more space, charging areas, and a kids’ play space – it’s all designed to improve the customer experience."

And for those driving electric? We’ve installed EV chargers on-site – including one in the showroom for new vehicle deliveries, a customer-exclusive charger available during business hours, and paid chargers at the rear of the dealership. "We’ve got EV chargers on site now – free for Toyota customers during business hours and a dedicated charger for showroom deliveries," Adam noted.

Smarter Service Booking

Booking a service has never been easier thanks to our new "Book to Bay" system. Customers can now book online, choose a time that suits them, and even reserve a bay, all without waiting for confirmation. Whether it’s 3 PM or 3 AM, our online system is open when you are.

"We just turned on Book to Bay – customers can pick their time, pick their bay, and get instant confirmation, even if they’re booking at three in the morning," Adam said.

Digital service menu boards are also being introduced so you’ll see all available services when you drive in, adding extra transparency and convenience.

Expanded Services and Capability

We’re now equipped to handle a wider range of vehicles including heavier models like Coaster buses and modified LandCruisers. "We’ve added capacity for larger and heavier vehicles – like Toyota Coaster buses and 70 Series LandCruisers – even the heavily modified ones," Adam shared.

We’ve also added new tyre fitting, wheel alignment, and balancing equipment to offer a genuine one-stop-shop for tyres, brakes, general servicing, and more. "We’ve got all new tyre equipment, balancing machines, and wheel alignments – so we can do more tyres than ever before and offer a complete service under one roof," he said.

And yes, we’re EV-ready! Our upgraded facility can now handle servicing and diagnostics for Toyota electric vehicles, with plans to expand to other makes in the future. "We’re set up with a portable EV charger inside the workshop that can move between bays – right now it’s for Toyota EVs, but we’re working on expanding our capability."

To keep pace with our expanded capacity, our team is growing too – from 28 staff to over 36. "The team’s probably gone from 28 to more than likely 36–38," Adam explained.

We’re also introducing new customer-facing roles like a car park concierge to help direct traffic, assist drop-offs, and ensure smooth operation across the facility. "It’s about making everything flow better – directing tow trucks, helping customers find their way – we’re looking to fill that role now," he said.
